Kokomo

One of my friends was having a beach themed party a couple of weeks ago.   Obviously I thought that was a magnificent chance to do some very colorful nails I wouldn't normally wear!

I started out doing a water marble with a yellow, pink, purple, and a light blue/green color.  Of course I didn't think to take a picture of the nails without the stamps on them to show the water marble.  I did really like the look of it.  The colors were very tropical together.  Almost looked like a sun set.

I also do a base of white before I do any water marbling, it seems to make the colors pop a lot better, especially with colors like these.  If I'm doing a two toned water marble with say black and pink, I usually put the pink down as my base.

I used a combination of Chez Delaney, Bundle Monster, and Salon Express plates to achieve this look.  I used the black special Konad polish to stamp with.

As always I topped everything off with a coat of Seche Vite and off I went!  I was the hit of the party!  Even Eric liked them :)

"Kokomo," by The Beach Boys, gets my vote for song of the day.  Especially because of this video, nothings wrong with having to look at a little John Stamos!  Yummy yummy.  I love this song, just reminds me of sitting on a beach drinking something with an umbrella in it!

Last Christmas

I was listening to Wham's, "Last Christmas," while I was working on my nails tonight so I figured a bumble gum pop song deserved some bubble gum pink nails!  And people say I only listen to hair metal...  you have to throw George Michael and Wham in the mix every once in a while!  I am very happy to be starting my last few days before Christmas doing Christmas mani's!  I will probably throw in a couple none Christmas posts here and there.  Maybe I'll just be a nice person and throw up more than one blog a day!  Who knows, I guess we will all have to wait and see.  :)

I will be adding a complete list of everything used at the bottle of this post so that I won't have to go into complete detail of all the items I used.

I started out by painting each nail a different color, two on each hand were painted pink, two were painted white with a glitter over them, and one was painted silver with two different silver glitters on top.

I grabbed every Christmas plate I could find in my book of plates, these plates included a mix of Konad, Bundle Monster, and also the Chez Delaney D-Series plates.  There were 9 or 10 plates total so it was a lot to keep track of!

I used the special Konad polish in white and then the two Sally Hansen Insta-Dri colors, Silver Swept and Presto Pink to stamp with.

I finished the nails off with the top coat Seche Vite to give them that amazing shine!

I hope you all are having a very merry few days before Christmas and please enjoy a little Wham!

Woke Up With a Monster

Thought I would start with the nails and work my way to the inspiration.  I started out with my usual base coat of Gelous.  Then I added two coats of China Glaze's Mummy May I.  It's this gorgeous deep purple with glitter in it.  I don't use it very often, but every time I do I absolutely LOVE the way it looks.

I then used the Bundle Monster plate BM-209, I stamped this with the white special Konad polish.  Then I added these gold and white sticker decals that I got in a penny auction on eBay just to add another dimension to the nails.  I topped all this off with the usual Seche Vite and went on my way.  I was really happy with the way these turned out.

This was a manicure where I got a lot of questions and comments from random people I didn't even know.  Does anyone else have a hard time trying to explain Konad to someone who has never hear of it?

Today's song is by Cheap Trick and it's called "Woke Up With a Monster."  For some reason whenever I hear people talk about any sort of mummy's or monsters my brain goes to this song or the David Bowie song, "Scary Monster."  I hope you all have a very monstrous day!  :)

Plate Backing

This is just a very, very quick post.  I got really tired of having to handle some of my nail plates so carefully so I didn't slice my finger open again while using them.  I looked around on line, but didn't find any ideas that I really liked for putting a backing on them.  I wanted something very easy and very quick, so I grabbed a roll of duct tape and placed it on the back then cut around the sides.  It worked perfectly!  The edges are no longer sharp and they have some protection on them now!

In an ironic turn, while I was putting the tape on the back of the plates so I wouldn't slice my fingers open again I managed to slice my thumb open!  Figures right!  Well I hope this helps anyone looking to back their plates.  I did this with my first set of Bundle Monster plates as well as my octagonal fauxnad plates.

Tigertailz

My, my, my, you aren't even prepared for how lucky you are with the song that inspired me tonight.  First though, I'll give you a look at the manicure, then I'll let you enjoy the rockingness of the very underrated, but incredible hair metal band, Tigertailz.  (And yes, I'm positive that rockingness isn't a word, but it should be!)

The base color is a franken tan, I used an unnamed Playboy brand tan polish, with the two Sinful Colors polishes: Easy Going and Nirvana.  I didn't have a tan that I liked so I had no choice but to mix one up.  I didn't think it was worth buying something new when I probably wouldn't wear it very often and I really didn't feel like going out to a store at 4:00am.

I then stamped the nails with the Bundle Monster plate BM-223.  Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I didn't stamp the image very well and had to add something else to it.

Since I had made my own base coat for this and not made enough, when I screwed up my stamping on a couple of the nails I was not able to take the polish off and start again.  So I had to improvise.

I grabbed my favorite black polish, which I don't even know the name of.  I bought it only because of the bottle, which I absolutely love.  However it doesn't have a label or anything on it and I didn't think to save the packaging at the time.  I'm sure that any polish would work for this though.  I just made a straight line down the edge of each nail.  I was going to use my new blue painters tape to mask them off as I wanted them perfect, but as usual I couldn't find it at 4:00am when I was doing my nails.  Other than the fact that some of the black lines are thicker than others, I think it actually turned out just fine that I didn't use the masking tape.

Now for the saddest part of my tale, something very tragic happened today.  I smashed my hand into the door and broke the nail on my middle finger.  It now matches the nail on the other middle finger that I broke last week.  Damn fingers...  :)

All in all, I am extremely happy with the look of this mani, which is very rare for me, I'm never satisfied with my nails.  But these ones will defintiely be staying on for at least a day or two!  :)  Now without further ado, please enjoy the AMAZING hair metal band Tigertailz and the ROCKING, "Love Bomb Baby."

Shot Through The Heart

Welcome back my dear readers!  While digging through my old pictures of nail designs I came across these oldies but goodies.  I had forgotten all about them and was madly in love with them when I did them.  I've been very into having nails lately that are in a state of organized chaos.  They all go together, but none of them match.

I used a hot pink color and a the black from Wet N Wild to paint each nail.  I then used the white, black, and shocking pink special to do all of the stamping.

I used a combination of the Bundle Monster plates, the Konad plates, and a couple fauxnad plates that I have to create the designs.

The whole design came about because I had just seen this sexy, sexy picture of Mr. Jon Bon Jovi and I knew I needed to do something with pink.  I had just done a green leopard print like his pants a few days before... but that is another post. :)

If anyone would like to know the plates that I used to create this I am more than happy to let you know, just leave me a comment and I'll get them posted.

Now, since I'll such a nice person I will leave you with the sexy Bon Jovi and "You Give Love a Bad Name."

Photograph (Warning: Very Picture Heavy!)

This is just a mix of things that I didn't take enough pictures of to make it a full post, but that I love/like enough to share.  The rocking song of the day is by one of the most amazing bands to see live, hair metal's Def Leppard.  If you ever get the chance to see a concert of them, don't think about it... GO.  This is their hit "Photograph" in honor of the pictures you're about to see. :)

We will start with my favorite manicure of the set.  I've actually done these nails a couple of times and at some point I will dedicate an entire post to them, but for now...  This will be your little teaser.  This is done with the Konad plate M13 and the polish is a pale yellow by Sinful Colors (eek I don't remember which!).

The top one shows the image better, but the bottom picture is a little closer to the true colors of the polishes.

This next set was done with the Bundle Monster plate BM19 and the white Konad polish.

These were done with a dark purple base coat by Sally Hansen, then I added the "Purple Glitter" by Sinful Colors.  On top of that I added a black french tip.  Surprisingly I got a lot of compliments on this manicure!

These last ones here are water marbled (obviously!) and were done with the  Wet 'N Wild's Fast Dry polish in How I Met Your Magenta, the black is Sinful Color's Secret Admirer, and Orly's glitter Love Each Other.

Just thought I would share what a mess my water marbling is when I don't do a very good job of taping off my fingers!  It's good to make sure everyone knows how FAR from perfect I really am!

New Bundle Monster Set

New Bundle Monster plates!  Need I say more!?  Since I am a complete dork I just so happen to be a fan of Bundle Monster on Facebook and to my surprise after logging into their page after a month I saw that in the next 3-5 weeks we will be able to purchase new plates!

Per their updates on Facebook there will be 25 brand new plates with a total of 150 images.  These plates will be comparable in price to their previous plate series, they are stating on the page that the price will be set at $21.99 (but we know this may change as things progress) and the plates will be available for purchase on Amazon like their other plates.  This is straight from the horses mouth, or monsters mouth rather!

"Bundle Monster: Launch date will be within 3 weeks or so.
We are finalizing the designs; production will take about 2 weeks.
Price will be similar to the 21 piece set we have currently.
We won't charge an arm or a leg for it~ ;)"

My favorite part is that they seemed to have listened to the feedback that their fans were giving them and make the full nail and french tip images much bigger!  They stated that there will also be even more full nail and french tip plates in the collection than there were the last time around (YES! :D ).

"Bundle Monster: ....The new set will not replace the old set.
It will be sold separately. The full nail design will be a little
larger than the 1st set; a revision based on customer reviews.
We are listening! We appreciate all the feedbacks!"

And lastly the thing that I think I'm secondly most excited about:

"Bundle Monster: .... All plates will also have a
backing to reduce sharpness around the edges..."

And there you have it, now you know what I know ladies!  I'll keep you posted as more details are announced.  If you would like to become a fan of Bundle Monster yourself on Facebook just click here!

Captain Crash And The Beauty Queen From Mars

"Captain Crash And The Beauty Queen From Mars"  "by the gorgeous Mr. Jon Bon Jovi has the HONOR of being my song of the day.  I was looking around online for some inspiration for a new manicure and it just so happened that I found a song that fit for one I did a while back!

This is Orly's polish in Dazzle.  I am absolutely in love with this silver nail polish.  I've used it no less than a thousand times now.  I added a bit of silver glitter to it, just to make it pop a little more, for this I used Sinful Color's Queen of Beauty.  I know I've shown you this polish before so you'll have to dig if you want to see it on it's own!  :)

I then did what I always do before I Konaded on top of my base color, I added a top coat to keep from ruining the manicure when I made a mistake while stamping.

For this I used the Bundle Monster plate  BM16 and the black special Konad polish.   I am so in love with these nails I cannot stand it.  They are so 80s and fantastic it's almost too much to bare.  They probably remind me of the 80s so much because they look just like the 80's band, Zebra's, album cover!  Well and who wasn't wearing zebra print in the 80s?!  I sure know I was!

Anyways, after I added the Bundle Monster image to the nails, I put on a thick coat of Seche Vite and went out on the town to show off these beauties!  Alright ladies and gentlemen, honest opinion time, what do you think?

Because for me, I'm absolutely in love!
